Goozex - A Better Game Trading Option

Anyone who has ever tried to trade in some or even all of their video game collection in the hopes of getting some new or better games knows that GameStop just sucks. In many cases you could give up ten or more of your beloved games and still not have enough store credit for that shiny new game you’ve had your eye on for the last month. Fortunately GameStop is no longer the only option for now there is Goozex.

I first heard about Goozex about a year ago but didn’t really pay it any attention due to past bad trades but, about a month ago I decided I wanted to rebuild my XBOX 360 collection and play some games I missed out on in the last year, so I joined and here’s how it went down.

I Traded

Contact – DS 200pts

Phoenix Wright - DS 200pts

Final Fantasy III – DS 200pts

Resident Evil – DS 200pts

Street Fighter – XBOX 200pts

Phantasmagoria – PC 350pts

For a total of 1350pts which I traded for

Street Fighter IV – 360, 400pts

Burnout Paradise – 360, 250pts

Mass Effect – 360, 450pts

Left 4 Dead – 360, 450pts

If you’re wondering about the points that is the system Goozex uses for trade values if you don’t trade any games you can buy points for $5 per hundred and you get a discount if buy a lot. If you decide to trade in your games you must first sign up for a free Goozex account www.goozex.com search for the games you wish to trade and add them to your offers queue the system then searches for someone who wants your games once matched you mail your games to the buyer and receive your points. These trades are backed by a guarantee so that in the event of a bad trade you are not defenseless. Now that you have you points it’s time to find some games for yourself. This is where Goozex makes their money when you find a game you want to spend your points on you have to use what Goozex calls a “Token” to make the trade. This is essentially the fee they charge for hooking you up with a seller you get your first token free but after that you can purchase more for $1 each however they only sell a minimum of 5 tokens at a time. I find the $1 transaction fee to be more than fair when compared to what GameStop would have given me.

GameStop Trade in Values

Contact = $1.00

Phoenix Wright = $3.25

Final Fantasy III =$2.75

Resident Evil = ($1.50) I forgot to check this one but I don’t think they would give much for it

Street Fighter = NA GameStop no longer takes original Xbox games

Phantasmagoria = NA they also won’t take old PC games

Total $7.00

GameStop Used Game Values

Street Fighter IV = $26.99

Burnout Paradise = $17.99

Mass Effect = $14.99

Left 4 Dead = $26.99

Total $86.96

+ 9% sales tax = $94.79

-$7.00 for trades = $87.79

Considering that I probably spent about $13.00 on shipping my six games separately and the three tokens I used I saved about $71.79 by using Goozex over GameStop so check it out and happy trading
